STEP 2- FIND YOUR BIOTIC FACTORS
Biotic (LIVING) Factors
TEXTBOOK RESOURCES: B34-B39
You must investigate the biotic factors in your ecosystem. Some biotic factors are easier to discover than others. As you are researching be sure to keep the trophic levels in mind.
You must include:
1. 5 producers (these are plants that get their energy from the sun through photosynthesis). You MAY NOT just say "grass" you must specifically tell me which types of plants grow in your biome. Each biome supports different plant life so just saying plants isn't descriptive.
2. At least 5 primary consumers (they can also be secondary consumers but you will have to represent them at each level).
3. 3-5 secondary consumers (These are the carnivores that eat the primary consumers: herbivores). You must pick secondary consumers that actually eat the 5 primary consumers you choose. Otherwise they won't fit into your food web. If you find a secondary consumer in your biome that doesn't eat a primary consumer you chose, you CAN'T USE IT unless you can identify its primary consumer.
4. 2-3 Tertiary consumers (the carnivores that eat the secondary consumers). Same rule as the secondary consumers though, they must eat the secondary consumers you chose.
5. 1 decomposer (please identify the actual scientific name of the type of bacteria or fungi)
The following are websites that other students have found while researching- you must keep track of where you get information including a list of photograph sites. Wikipedia may NOT be a site.
